The Triumph of Human Indecency

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” -Edmund Burke

There is a prominent evil that has served as a constant throughout Michael Jackson's lifetime and even in death he hasn't been able to escape it. The level of human indecency that continues to loom over Michael's legacy is disturbing and downright cancerous, considering he was one of the greatest humanitarians to have ever graced this earth with his existence.

Recently, just as Justice for Michael Jackson took a step forward when Conrad Murray was found guilty for causing Michael's death, MSNBC, NBC, and their affiliates swoop in and drag the Jacksons, Michael's children, and his fans 10 giant steps back leaving us all gutted with their inhumane practice of paying a convicted felon for his crime. Not only that, but we're forced to relive June 25, 2009 for the third time.

By some notion, NBC and MSNBC perhaps believe they're doing this in the best interests of the public, but I, for one and I'm certain my fellow MJ fans feel the same, cannot fathom how this type of indecent, immoral, and unethical behavior could be of any interest to the public.

When the human race chooses human indecency over compassion, it illustrates why a soul like Michael Jackson never had a chance of surviving this world with any amount of integrity or dignity granted to him at the level he most certainly deserved.

To allow a killer a platform to spread what is painted as 'his' side of the story with no legal boundaries in place to assure he's telling the truth is incomprehensible.  Regardless, a convicted felon should not be allowed to profit from any crime, let alone one that involves taking the life of another.

Because of this, I stand with my fellow MJ fans and CLAAD in support of the call to action to "Turn My TV Off" and it is my hope that "good men" who are unwilling to allow for the evil of human indecency to triumph will join in and do the same.

All around the world, let's send our message loud and clear that this will not be tolerated.

Let's Get Ready To Rumble...

On this the evening before the day we have waited over two long years for, I have what feels like butterflies with hobnail boots on rampaging around the pit of my stomach. It is a bit like the feeling you get before  going to the dentist to have teeth extracted. You know you have to go through with it, you know it might hurt but all you want is it over and done with as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Debbii - Oxford, UK
The day every single MJ fan, including myself, has been waiting for is literally just hours away and the air is filled with so many raw emotions that I believe trying to reduce how the fan community feels on Justice4MJ's eve to one or two ideals is not only absurd, but impossible as well. Especially when the overall perception by the media is that MJ fans are an irrational, hero-worshiping breed that do nothing but crazy things that "normal" people with logic and morals would never dream of doing...oh the irony!

Personally, my feelings of anxiety and nervousness aren't because my faith that Justice for Michael Jackson will prevail has wavered, but rather because I fear what many fans fear. We fear Michael Jackson, his good moral character, integrity, and legacy will be soiled by the media's need to feed the masses sensationalized rumors or gossip and manipulated HALF truths instead of relevant facts that actually pertain to the case. We've already seen them place Michael 'on trial' in the court of public opinion from the moment he died and sadly, not too many of us have any hopes of that changing.

They[media] will run him down as they always have, make this a circus and fodder for news programs and talk shows, and all but forget the loving, generous, brilliant soul at the heart of all of this who is gone. My heart is heavy and [my] soul cries out for justice.
Melanie-Nashville, TN
Only moments after it was finally confirmed that Our Beloved King of Pop had died, media began swooping in like vultures over a freshly killed carcass and shortly after, the character assassination began with unfounded accusations of drug overdose. Michael Jackson didn't die of a drug overdose in the conventional meaning of the phrase. The general public, when they hear "drug overdose," do not think in terms of technicality. They think in terms of general ideals and knowledge. So when, the term "drug overdose" is used to described Michael's death, the media is generally giving the public the ideal that Michael essentially killed himself and was responsible for his own death. Both MJ fans and the media, though they act as if they don't, know that's the furthest thing from the truth, but what sensationalism could the tabloid junkies provide by sticking to the facts?

In addition, Michael's family, children, and fans will be subjected to watching their beloved be placed on trial more than the actual defendant Conrad Murray. Already the countless F-List celebrity hosts on HLN have referred to this trial as the Michael Jackson trial, one in particular, Dr. Drew...and I use the term "doctor" loosely!

Could anybody ever imagine the Casey Anthony trial being referred to as the Caylee Anthony trial? The O.J Simpson trial as the Nicole Simpson trial...or imagine this...Charles Manson's case being identified by any one of his countless victims' names? The thought of doing such is unthinkable, so why the need to place Michael's name on this trial as if HE is the one on trial? Simple...nobody cares about who Conrad Murray is when it comes to ratings.

Que the late Elizabeth Taylor's 1993 press conference and there you have the ammunition the media uses to continue on with their "addict" label. That moment in time has provided the media all they need to forevermore portray Michael as an addict. Never mind that this happened over 16 years ago because the "witty" media has the perfect cliche argument, including Jane Velez Mitchell, "once an addict...always an addict."

It doesn't matter that  every single drug found in Michael's body came directly from Murray, a man who claims he was fearing that addiction was taking over Michael. It doesn't matter that the "countless prescription drugs," found at Michael's home had Murray penned as the prescribing doctor with the exception of about three.

Such facts are ignored because they do NOTHING to assist the media with continuing their portrayal of Michael Jackson as an addict who got what was coming to him.

In this day and age its simply too much to ask for most of the media to stick to the cold hard facts...not when there's so much to be made and gained by serving up helping after helping of manipulated, sensationalized, and creatively twisted stories. What's disheartening, is with MJ fans and people like minded excluded, the general public continues to hop into the soup line and beg, "Please, sir...I want some more."

There will be slander...there will be defamation and there will be crucifixion, but Michael Jackson fans are steady at the battle lines and we will not falter. During his life Michael knew he could depend on his fans when he was up against the evils of this world and with his death I assure you the desire to "be there" for Michael and take on the world and ANYBODY in it whose sole purpose is to belittle or disrespect the legacy Michael left behind has only grown. As the true gate keepers of his legacy, we will defend, protect, and honor the Man in the Mirror and we will not be deterred.

We've learned so much from Michael and those lessons learned must be rewarded by continuing on with his messages in spite of his absence.
"Dare to be yourself in the face of adversity. Choose right over wrong, ethic over convenience, and truth over popularity." -The last man that dared to do any of that was Michael Jackson. In my mind, heart, and soul, this is what it takes to be not just a fan of MJ, but to be a justice seeker of and for him as well.

MJ's Good Witch-WI
As a fellow justice seeker, I've learned the great importance of knowing your opponent and arming yourself with facts. Its a standard of practice for any Michael Jackson fan...to be on our A-game, "in the know," and well armed. We do not have to go after our opponents with violence or hate, knowledge and facts are more than enough. Too many underestimate just how intellectual the Michael Jackson fan base is...their mistake.
Doctors are reckless every single day and its long past time to hold them accountable. Whether Michael asked for it[Propofol] or not is completely irrelevant. It was Murray who threw his ethics out the window without a second thought. It was Murray who chose to leave the room for over an hour leaving an unmonitored person to basically die. It was Murray who thought cleaning up the evidence of his wrong-doing was more important than trying to save the life of a dying man...this is ALL MURRAY!!

Stop crucifying the victim!
Tina-Canada (Arrest Conrad Murray Campaign)
May there be no mistake. We are not naive in our quest for justice. We're aware that no amount of demonstrations, protests, or outcries will bring Our Beloved King of Pop back to us, but holding the man accountable for taking him away from us much too soon sends a message...it provides meaning...Michael's death will not be in vain.
On the eve of the opening statements of his killer’s trial,  I feel no apprehension.  Michael has already paid the highest price, and I make peace with the fact that no matter the verdict, we have lost him forever.  I hold Conrad Murray fully responsible for his death. His incompetence, lack of judgment, greed and total disregard for another human's life, are compelling enough to warrant a GUILTY verdict.  Now is the time for his killer to face the music…
Yesterday, as I prayed for Justice in a court of Law for Michael, I also prayed that it doesn’t come at the expense of his unparalleled legacy.
Kathie-Quebec, Canada
Our journey will not end with the conclusion of this trial. Justice4MJ isn't about a guilty verdict alone, its so much more.
Even if Murray is convicted on the involuntary manslaughter charge AND receives a four year prison sentence, will I feel that justice has been served? The answer is unequivocally no. True justice for Michael Jackson will be when the media stops sensationalizing him, and allows the rest of world what his fans see. I will never give up hope that one day, united, his fans will change the world's perception of Michael Jackson. That, my friends, is true justice.
And Justice For Some-USA
For us, its about dedicating our time to anything to that dares to threaten the legendary legacy Michael created and left behind. That legacy is the immortality that Michael once confessed to wanting, "I want to live forever." This is how he'll..."live forever," by leaving a piece of himself as a gift to the world in the form of a legacy, and Michael Jackson fans will always unite to guard and cherish that precious gift. Injustice comes as a threat in any form and to any and every threat there will be response and their will be consequences.

I don't know that there isn't a single MJ fan who isn't ready for this marathon to begin tomorrow.
Lies can run sprints, but the TRUTH runs marathons.-Michael Jackson
We've been long awaiting this day for TWO years, but we're no rookies. We know our opponents and we're well armed with knowledge and the available facts, so damn right we're ready. The question isn't whether or not MICHAEL JACKSON fans are ready for tomorrow, the question is, is the media and Conrad Murray ready?

"They have been loyal. They're activists. They will fight you about me."

One Man...Countless Voices...

...raised as ONE.

On June 25th 2009, Michael Jackson's voice was taken away from him much too soon. We, as his loyal fans have always made it our quest to defend, protect, and honor the man behind the legacy.

This is a man who was branded a musical genius by even his own idols. His legacy not only left an impact on music, it left its imprint on the world. It showed that music, just like love, has no racial or cultural boundaries.

Not only as the world's greatest entertainer to ever live does the man in the mirror deserve the best this world has to offer, but as the world's most devout and greatest humanitarian, he is owed gratitude and respect for the contributions he's made to heal the world and its inhabitants.

May any who dare write or speak about Michael and his legacy be forewarned, that the habit Michael's most devoted and loyal fans made of protecting, defending, and honoring Our Beloved King of Pop in life, is one we will unwaveringly continue to have despite his death.

It is for such a reason, that I emphatically pledge my support for AndJustice4Some's call to action.

If not us, then who exactly will be Michael's voice?

Open Letter On Behalf of Michael Jackson Fans to the Mainstream Media

Dear Worldwide Mainstream Media,

We, the Michael Jackson fanbase, are keenly aware that the Society of Professional Journalists believe that public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy. The duty of the journalist is to further those ends by seeking truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues. And although this code of ethics is voluntary, the majority of journalists embrace this code, believing that professional integrity is the cornerstone of a journalist's credibility.

The Michael Jackson fan base is asking for a worldwide media ban of the use of the term "Jacko". Rooted in racism and negativity, the name plants the suggestion of "Wacko Jacko" widely used by tabloids to identify Michael Jackson prior to death. The media's use of this name directly contradicts professional journalists' code of ethics. There is no "public enlightenment" with the use of the term "Jacko". There is no truth to the name "Jacko" and there certainly is no provision for a fair or comprehensive account of any event or issue surrounding Michael Jackson.

The name "Jacko", when used by journalists has two priorities: ratings and revenue. Additionally, the name is used to sway public opinion. In a heightened age of mistrust of the media by the public, it is imperative that journalists truly use their sense of professional integrity, including avoiding the use of headline grabbing names that harm the subject or those related to him.

Leading the way are Elysa Gardner from USA Today and CBS News, both of whom changed their headline from "Jacko" to "Jackson" when asked. We are asking for the rest of the mainstream media to follow suit. Journalists should see this as an act of human dignity, both for themselves as professionals, and for Michael Jackson and his family.
Sincerely,
Michael Jackson Soulja of Truth

Raise Our Voice for Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson fans are known for many things and the most admiral among those things is our loyal dedication to honoring, defending, and protecting Our Beloved Michaell and his legacy. We've stood up, fought, rallied, and protested the most ruthless of opponents, many times all due to our ability to unite and raise our voice.

Recall last year (2010), the slanderous and volatile Extra interview with Jason Pfiefer. A delusional man who claimed his 15 minutes of fame by claiming to be Michael's lover. There was to be a second part to that interview aired the following day, but with thousands of Michael Jackson fans taking to their phones to call in to Extra...that second part of that interview never aired.

In August 2010, Michael was inducted to the National Museum of Dance & Hall of Fame in New York. However, barely a month before he was to be inducted a group that represents people molested as children had planned to disrupt and protest his induction. Again, Michael Jackson fans united and quickly took action and the result? Michael was inducted without one word of protest uttered at the ceremony.

Last year, we heard of a documentary that was to be aired in January 2011. The documentary in question was supposed to be a re-enactment/recreation of the autopsy performed on Michael. Fans campaigned, rallied, petitioned, and raised their voices about that atrocity snagging the attention of the Michael Jackson Estate, who then joined the efforts and again the result was victory. Discovery postponed the documentary indefinitely.

There is a common thread that binds protection, honor, and respect to Michael and his legacy and that is his fans.

If not US...then WHO?

Just as we did not falter then, we must not falter NOW. If we, as Michael Jackson fans, had not raised our voices to the injustice, slander, and defamation that was being launched at Michael and his legacy, then who would have done so?

The past is great indication as to what to expect in the future...history always repeats itself.

For the most part, most of those with the last name Jackson did not dirty their hands or break their backs to defend Michael as his fans did against these notable attacks. I won't judge them for such, but I won't ignore it either. Actions speak louder than words and the Jacksons INACTION has spoken and continues to speak volumes.

The estate depends on fans to make them aware of damaging and potentially destroying efforts against Michael's legacy. So again I ask, if not us, then who...who will stand up and raise their voice to protect Michael's legacy if not the same loyal, devoted fans that Michael could depend on just as muc in death as he did in life?

The Michael Forever Tribute...is it truly a tribute worthy of fan support...more importantly is it a tribute that truly honors and respects Michael as he rightfully deserves?

Everything done or said in Michael's name or with his name attached to it reflects upon his entire legacy as a whole. As the clock ticks, we're one second closer to reaching the day our beloved idol receives the justice he is due over his death.

Anything said or done during that critical time can have an everlasting impression on how Michael and his legacy are viewed.

A tribute concert is an honorable idea, but only when it is done in a manner that respects Michael and those who he adored and loved...and yes that includes the fans as well. Michael is deserving of a tribute that is genuinely done with the intentions of paying respect and honor to the world's greatest entertainer that ever lived...but first and foremost, he deserves JUSTICE.

With only a couple of months away, the damage this tribute concert's organizers have brought down on the Michael Jackson community AND the Jackson family is disheartening. The fan base again faces the ugly disruption of division, but even more unbelievably, it has divided a family.
STATEMENT FROM JERMAINE & RANDY JACKSON
RE THE MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUTE CONCERT

July 25, 2011

Today's press conference in Los Angeles announced a tribute concert to Michael to be attended and supported by the Jackson Family. However, we want to make clear that this does not reflect the position of the entire family.

While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death. As everyone knows, those proceedings commence September 20th, and this "Michael Forever" concert takes place in Cardiff, Wales, UK,on October 8th. In light of this, we feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event and its promoter, Global Live.

Furthermore, the decision to proceed with this concert disrespects opinions and wishes expressed in the strongest terms to Global Live during conversations in April when this event was presented to the majority of the family as an idea already in its advanced stages.

There will come a time and place for an amazing and deserving tribute to Michael. But we feel that the most important tribute we can give to our brother at this time is to seek justice in his name.

JERMAINE JACKSON & RANDY JACKSON
As Jermaine and Randy mention, "the most important tribute we can give to [Michael] at this time is to seek justice in his name." But it should be noted that when the planning of this tribute was presented to the family, the promoters disrespected, "opinions and wishes expressed in the strongest terms to Global Live," when they decided to proceed with the concert.

How honorable is a tribute really, if it directly disrespects the opinions and wishes of those dearest and most loved by Michael? Not only are family members opinions and wishes are being dismissed, but Michael's loyal fans are receiving the same treatment.

For two years, the FANS have been rallying and demanding justice along the Jackson Family's side. Our messages of love and support were important then, why are they not important now? The same effort has been put forth by fans to seek justice in Michael's name...if not at times MORE than what the family has involved themselves in, so why is our voice of no significance any longer? Are we to remain silent at the mockery, insult, and disrespect this tribute has demonstrated thus far simply because the culprits behind this are doing so with the support of some of the Jacksons?

The moment the promoters involved in the planning of this event decided to ignore family members' wishes and concerns, Michael's legacy was dishonored. The lottery-like ticketing system, the unprofessional behaviors of the event's organizers towards fans, and the failure to attain a "galaxy" of the greatest artists for a truly prestigious line-up befitting of baring the title of the "greatest tribute concert ever" has only dishonored Michael's legacy further and added insult to injury. The fact that Michael's children's presence is stated as part of the terms and conditions demonstrates the clear exploitative intentions of GLE.

Michael worked hard and suffered many battles to build the legacy he has today and it is up to anybody who claims to love and honor this man to assure that his name and legacy are not cheapened by the exploitative tactics of ANYBODY...regardless of their last name or relationship to Michael.

Fans are among those who love and honor Michael the most, so we must accept the duty of raising our voice for Michael and his legacy.

Please join your fellow MJ fans and be the voice that Michael no longer has. Help us demand the respect and honor Michael justly so deserves. Join us in this venture to raise our voice for Michael Jackson's legacy.
